There are THREE different ways to participate in the Guelph Film Festival and submit your content for consideration. Note: the GFF will only consider films that have not previously been screened in Guelph. This applies to all three submissions categories.

Tiny Docs by Tiny People

Short documentaries by kids

Every year, kids (0-11 years old) from across Guelph, Wellington County, or the surrounding area are invited to create 1 to 2 minute short documentaries about their worlds and submit them to be screened as part of the Guelph Film Festival.

It’s time to get creative!

These films can be shot on a phone (or something fancier). They can be polished, with lots of angles and shots, or be done in one take from one angle. It's all about the kid director’s vision! #LetsMakeDocs

Documentary ideas

  • Have you been on an adventure lately?

  • What critters live in your backyard?

  • What’s your favourite thing? Or who is your favourite person? Tell us about it/them!

  • Do you have a secret place you love to go?

  • What has your pet been up to lately?

  • Is there something exciting or magical you can show us?

  • Or anything else you like! If you think it’s cool, we will too!

*Remember to film your documentary in landscape, not portrait.*

If you're looking for ideas, check out some Tiny Docs from the last few years: Tiny Docs Screening Room.

Get your parents’ permission and email your doc to artistic@guelphfilmfestival.ca

Films will be screened as part of the Guelph Film Festival’s children’s programming which happens on the Sunday morning.

Tiny Docs can be sent as attachments or as a downloadable link from a Vimeo or Youtube account (but keep your awesome films private until we reveal them at the festival!) or they can be sent through WeTransfer (a free service to send files up to 2GB).

In your submission email please include the preferred name of the tiny filmmaker, their age, and the title of the doc.

Submission deadline: October 15, 2024
